Testimonials

Since being printed in March 2009, over 20,000 copies have been sold in 45 different states to groups that work with immigrants including school districts, libraries, ESOL programs, bilingual therapists, parenting agencies, economic assistance agencies, immigrant/refugee collaboratives, cultural centers, Goodwill, and health clinics. Here's what people are saying:

"We purchased 1,000 copies of the guide and distribute them to our non-English speaking program participants. The variety of topics is really wonderful, and even better is the quick-to-the-point answers to everything you got in the guide. The format is easy to handle by a variety of our participants because it's pretty straight forward. The price is perfect for us."
Pilar Castro-Reino, Manager, Denver Public Library

"What Every Immigrant Needs to Know is the single best compilation of useful information for international residents of the U.S. that we have been able to find. We have found the guide so useful that we give a copy to each new student that comes to the school."
Paul Boesen, Managing Director, English Now! (a private English school in Bethesda, Maryland)

"I introduced this book to my students and they all wanted to purchase a copy to keep as a reference, so I have ordered copies for all our ESL classes. This book gives concise, survival information in Spanish or English, for all immigrants."
Maryann Soderberg, ESL teacher for 30 years

"I think this is a superb publication, one that we in the ESOL field have needed for some time. I thought it might be useful for students at Sunset ESL—a community-based ESL program—as well. When I presented a single copy to my volunteer teachers during training a couple of weeks ago, intending that it be used as an office-based resource to prompt ideas for conversation classes, the teachers jumped on it. "
Nanci Leiton, Program Director at Sunset ESL in OR

"I now know what to do if I get pulled over by a police officer."
Mauricio Martinez, workshop participant in Lafayette, CO

"The most important thing I learned was about how to keep my kids safe."

"I learned about the importance of being on time."
Victoria Luna, workshop participant in Boulder

"I learned that a notary public has less power in the U.S. than in some other countries."

"I like the information about working overtime."
